On 8–9 April 2026, EPF member organisation Promoció del Transport Públic (PTP) will host the eighth edition of its annual congress “Public transport is a women’s affair”, this year under the theme, “Gender-based violence in mobility: protocols to transform everyday life.” The 2026 edition will focus on the deployment of a comprehensive protocol for the prevention and response to sexual violence on public transport, recently presented by the Generalitat and the Catalan institutional board.
Programme overview
The congress will take place over two days, combining in-person and online sessions:
- 8 April (in person + asynchronous video)
📍 Ca l’Alier
🕘 09:00 – 14:00
The first day will be held in person and in Catalan, bringing together stakeholders to discuss practical implementation and experiences related to the protocol. - 9 April (online international session)
🕟 16:30 – 18:30
The second day will take place online, with sessions in Catalan, and English translation expected.
The event is open to all participants, offering a platform for discussion on how to make public transport safer and more inclusive.
Why this matters
Addressing gender-based violence in mobility remains a key issue for ensuring that public transport is accessible, safe, and inclusive for all. By focusing on concrete protocols and their implementation, this year’s congress aims to contribute to transforming everyday travel experiences, particularly for women and users vulnerable to exclusion.
