As the public transport landscape continues to progress, EPF remains committed to ensuring that passengers’ needs and rights are strongly represented at the European level. Our 2025 Annual Report highlights EPF’s activities across key areas: policy advocacy, participation in EU-funded projects, and active engagement with our members.
Policy Work: EPF acts as a unique platform for representing passengers’ interests in policy formulation at EU level, working constructively together with other stakeholders and decision-makers to advance the interests of public transport users across Europe. Throughout 2025, EPF focused on key policy areas, including: integrated information and ticketing; Passenger Rights across air, rail and multimodal transport; the revision of the Air Services Regulation; VAT in transport and tourism; and the development of a European high-speed rail network, alongside additional work on sustainable tourism, and broader EU transport policy initiatives.
Project Participation: EPF participates in a wide range of EU-funded research and innovation projects, mostly focusing on communication & dissemination support, as well as stakeholder and citizen engagement activities. In 2025, EPF continued its involvement in ongoing projects such as UPPER (Unleashing the Potential of Public Transport in Europe), GEMINI (Greening European Mobility), SIGN-AIR (Implemented Synergies, data sharing contracts and Goals between transport modes and AIR transportation), InclusiveSpaces (Designs, Tools & Frameworks for Creating an Accessible & Inclusive Built Environment for All, for Now & for the Future) and Hyper4Rail (A Giant Leap for Loop: Towards a harmonized implementable Hyperloop concept). In addition, EPF joined CCAMbassador, a Horizon Europe project on Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM), which kicked off in Brussels on 2-3 July 2025. EPF also continued to contribute its expertise on European railway passenger perspectives to selected EU Rail-funded projects.
Membership Engagement: EPF maintains close ties with its member associations through regular communication and quarterly general meetings. These meetings provide invaluable opportunities for exchanging information, sharing best practices, and strengthening collaborative efforts in advocating for passenger rights and interests.
The EPF 2025 Annual Report offers an overview of the organization’s work and achievements throughout the year. From policy advocacy to project participation and membership engagement, EPF looks forward to an impactful 2026 of progress and ongoing efforts to improve passenger travel experience.
